College of the Desert

This project is a competition entry by Montana State University in 2004.  Out of hundreds of projects by 6 major architecture schools, this project received honorable mention. Proposed is an additional classroom building and redesign of the masterplan for a large portion of the southern side of the college campus to increase pedestrian traffic, add entertainment venues and exterior gathering spaces, and increase vehicle parking capacity. Employed in the building orientation and organization are tactics for natural lighting, passive cooling, and active energy harvesting.
